Barenaked Ladies Almost Back at Work

Spending the last year apart was too long a break for the members of Barenaked Ladies. The band will get back together again in October to start working on a new album.
“We should have something out middle of next year,” frontman Steven Page told andPOP at the Star! Schmooze party during the Toronto Film Fest.
Each album the band releases features zany lyrics, but there’s always a serious side to the Barenaked Ladies. The distinct sound of each album comes out while working in the studio.
“We’re just looking for good songs as always and then the stylistic changes happen in the studio,” Page said.
Page released “The Vanity Project” during his time away from the band.
“It was a lot of fun to make and my window of opportunity to make it is slowly closing.”
Eleven of the 12 tracks on the album were co-written by Stephen Duffy, who is now producing material for Robbie Williams. Another Vanity Project album may have to wait until the Barenaked Ladies take another break, which may not be for a while.
“We have a lot of songs left in the can that I’d love to continue to work on.”
