Former MuchMusic VJ Rick “The Temp” Campanelli and Ben Mulroney may be going head to head not only for girls’ hearts but for TV ratings.

Global announced on Tuesday that Entertainment Tonight, the top syndicated entertainment news-magazine, is going to debut a Canadian edition on September 12.

The show will feature the same theme song and graphics, and will share archives and a contact base.

While the Canadian edition will focus on Hollywood North, the two programs will collaborate daily.

Cheryl Hickey will host the show, and other talent will include Kim D’eon (The Hour), Rosey Edah (eTalk), Roz Weston (Toronto 1), and Campanelli, who left MuchMusic last week after nine and a half years on air.

Entertainment Tonight is currently entering its 25th season.

The Canadian edition will rival CTV’s eTalk, hosted by Mulroney.
