Canadian Idol: Suzi, Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Rocker Suzi Rawn was eliminated Wednesday night on Canadian Idol. It was sad to see her go because just like her song this week, we couldn’t help falling in love with her. The night was bittersweet since it was also her birthday. For the first week in the competition there was no bottom two, only the announcement of which competitor would leave.
The Idols sang a medley of Elvis songs at the beginning of the show, while images of their home lives flashed on the screens. Next there was footage of the Idols’ trip to Graceland. The extravagant rooms of the mansion were beautiful to see, but what was most impressive was the hallway of hundreds of gold records in Elvis’s name.
When asked about the possibility of Suzi’s elimination, Jake said, “If you go home tonight, you shouldn’t think of your birthday as the day you left Canadian Idol. You should think of your birthday as the day you could go home and start a career.” The video of Suzi’s auditions and performances on the show rolled and there was a familiar sadness. Suzi sang out the show and thanked fans, saying, “I’m overwhelmed with gratefulness for this whole experience.”
Melissa, Rex and Aaron will compete next week, working alongside the Barenaked Ladies. Tune in for the second last week to see who remains for the finals.
