Wednesday night’s results came as a shock! Saskatchewan’s Josh Palmer became the fifth contestant to be eliminated from the Canadian Idol competition. Josh has proved himself to be a talented singer, an artist dedicated to a career in music. He maintained his composure as he told Canada, “this is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life.”

After a medley, which included “All Right Now,” “Magic Man,” “Somebody to Love” and “All Day and All of the Night,” Ben got right to the results, splitting the competitors in half. Three were safe while three were in danger.

As Ben reviewed the judges’ comments from the previous night’s show, it was clear that the votes would be tight. Aaron, Melissa, and Casey were sent to safety. Suzi, Rex, and Josh were left standing to await the final words from Ben. Zack was stunned by the results for the bottom three, and simply stared with his mouth wide open in amazement. Jake had some encouraging words for them, saying, “These three will have a music career whether they win this thing or not.”

Rex was the next to be declared safe, which left Suzi and Josh hanging. However, it was soon announced that Josh would not be in the final five. Josh graciously thanked his fans and voters and sang the show out, giving Canada one last taste of his passion. As he took the guitar and sang “Layla,” the judges and the audience were all on their feet. Ben told Josh, “You gotta go home and do what you’re meant to do, which is make music.” There is no doubt that Josh will do just that. Next week the Idols will sing the songs of the great Canadian rock band, the Guess Who.
