Ashlee Simpson Denies Singing About Lohan

Ashlee Simpson denies rumours that her new single “Boyfriend” is meant for former buddy Lindsay Lohan.
Tabloids published stories earlier this year that Simpson had moved in on Lohan’s boyfriend at the time, That ’70s Show actor Wilmer Valderrama. Simpson denied the rumour and I’m thinking we should give her that much because honestly, it’s … Fez.
“It’s not about one person in particular, it’s just something every girl can relate to,” Simpson said at Sunday’s 2005 Teen Choice Awards. “It’s a song about [how] every girl out there sometimes thinks you stole her boyfriend. It’s just making fun of that.”
Simpson originally planned to release “L.O.V.E” as the first single from her just-renamed record I Am Me (formerly In Another Life), but has decided to go with a song that will no doubt create more buzz.
“I’ve been through a lot this year, and with my records I always think it’s really important to just put your whole self out there and I feel like it definitely has that element,” she says, echoing comments her dad, Joe Simpson, previously made about the new disc.
Simpson also revealed to MTV.com that she is currently throwing around video ideas for “Boyfriend” with director Marc Webb, who most recently did Hilary Duff’s “Wake Up” and Hot Hot Heat’s “Middle of Nowhere”.
Simpson plans to tour this fall to promote I Am Me, which hits stores on October 18.
