A member of the paparazzi who hoped to snap pregnant pop singer Britney Spears was shot in the leg outside a Malibu house.

The paparazzo, identified as Brad Diaz, was 200 yards from the home where he believed Spears to be attending a bridal shower Saturday evening.

He was one of over 10 photographers waiting on the street when he was hit in the leg with plastic pellet from a BB gun.

The identity of the house owner has not been released.

The Sheriff?s department’s Lt. Steve Smith said it was unclear at this point where the shot came from.

“It could?ve been somebody driving by, walking by, we have no idea where it came from,” he said.

Smith said firefighters bandaged the man?s leg and he went to a hospital.

“They put a county Band-Aid on him and transported him away in an ambulance. If there’s anything below minor, that’s what the injury was.”

Spears’ publicist has yet to comment.
