A powerful medley of eighties’ hits showcased the talents of the Canadian Idols at this Wednesday evening’s results show. Even though the vote tallies were looming, the competitors managed to have fun on stage. After Ben introduced the judges as “the four people who will be around until the bitter end,” he turned to the eight Idols and it became clear what a sad night Wednesday really is. The Idols looked anxious, perhaps at the thought that this Idol show could be their last, that they could lose the best chance they may ever have at success. However, Canadian Idol is a competition and like any television program, no matter what misery is at hand, the show must go on.

Josh Palmer, Suzi Rawn, and Amber Fleury took centre stage as the bottom three of the week. These three singers are all extremely talented. While Josh and Suzi gave strong performances on Tuesday night, Amber may have fallen a little short. Josh was quickly sent to the couches, and Amber became the third contestant to be eliminated this season. It was sad to see Amber go before she had more time to prove herself to Canada. She genuinely thanked everyone who has supported her and sang the show out with her eighties pick “Just Like Jesse James.” With Amber eliminated, Jake gave some advice, saying, “Someone needs to stand up and say ‘I want to win this thing’.” Seven Idols– Suzi, Josh, Melissa, Aaron, Casey, Rex and Daryl — remain to continue the journey to be the top Canadian Idol. They will sing the standards next week accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Get ready for some croonin’ and some swoonin’ next week!
