Bacall Calls Cruise ‘Vulgar’
Lauren Bacall has decided to become a member of the Society for Making Fun of Tom Cruise. Join the club, Lauren.
In response to the whole TomKat debacle, Bacall told Time magazine, “It’s inappropriate and vulgar and absolutely unacceptable to use your private life to sell anything commercially. I think it’s a kind of sickness.”
After taking a jab at Cruise’s “shocking” public behaviour, Bacall adds: “The word ‘great’ stands for something. When you talk about a great actor, you’re not talking about Tom Cruise.”
Coincidentally, Bacall has also criticized Tom’s ex. At last year?s Venice Film Festival, Bacall announced that Nicole Kidman wasn?t a legend – “She’s a beginner.”
Meanwhile, Nicole is probably too busy working on becoming a screen legend to care overmuch about these shenanigans. Hollywood Reporter reports that Kidman is in final negotiations to star in Invasion, a sci-fi thriller to be directed by German director Oliver Hirschbiegel.
The movie follows a psychiatrist (Kidman) who discovers that the mysterious epidemic altering the behaviour of human beings has extraterrestrial origins. She must protect her son, who may be key to stopping the invasion.
Shooting is set to begin in late September. Hirschbiegel directed the Oscar-nominated film Downfall, a controversial account of Adolf Hitler’s last days.
For the record, Invasion is not a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
