The National Hockey League Players’ Association voted 87 per cent in favour of the proposed collective bargaining agreement.

The NHLPA wrapped up their meetings held in Toronto today and will await the results of the board of governors ratification vote tomorrow.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is expected to fly to Toronto tomorrow to give a joint press conference with NHLPA boss Bob Goodenow to officially announce the new CBA.

Once the owners ratify the deal, the NHL will be open for business as of Saturday as general mangers can begin buying out players and issuing qualifying offers to restricted free agents.
