AMC theatres are skeptical about booking a new film, The Aristocrats, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Why?

The film, which is set for release on July 29 in the States, features some of the best comedians around, like Robin Williams, Drew Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Stewart and George Carlin.

But AMC is insistent on pulling the plug because the language surrounding some of the jokes is too vulgar.

“At least it’s showing that words have power, and we haven’t had that statement made in a while,” said Penn Jillette, who helped produce the film with director Paul Provenza.

Pam Blase, a spokesperson from AMC the decision was based on buisiness rationale.

Opposite of the business debate is the freedom of speech and expression issues that automatically arise. Although The Aristocrats is still unrated, due to language, this banishment still comes as a surprise, especially when one considers there are a lot more worse movies that have been made.

In conclusion, if we start banning films based on the reasoning some things are too severe to watch, or in this case, listen to, then why stop with the Aristocrats?
