A novel written by Saddam Hussein before the U.S.-led war is to be published next week.
“Get Out, Damned One” is about an Arab warrior and a ruler’s daughter who foils a man’s plot to overthrow a town’s ruler.
The story is supposedly a metaphor for a Zionist-Christian plot against Arabs and Muslims. The villian represents the Jews.
“It was my father’s wish to publish the book,” said Raghad Saddam Hussein to The Associated Press.
Raghad Saddam Hussein, who is now in U.S. custody in Iraq, said that her father finished the novel a day before the war began and wanted the book published. He previously wrote three other books that were attributed to “its author.”
The book cover is designed by an Iraqi artist and a company in Jordan will publish the book in Arabic followed by English and French editions.
Raghad wrote a dedication to her father in the book.
“To the beat of the heart, to the eye and to the father of the Iraqis…to the creator of men and heroes…to the one who taught us all the great values.”
“You, who raised our heads high, the heads of the Iraqis, the Arabs and the Muslims…we present to you our souls…to the father of the heroes, to my beloved and dear father, with all my respect and glory to you.”
Some Arab newspapers have published excerpts without permission last year.
Saddam’s other novels are “Zabiba and the King,” “Men and a City” and “The Fortified Citadel.”
Saddam is jailed in a U.S. military detention complex near Baghdad airport since his capture in December 2003.
He faces charges before a special war crimes tribunal. If convicted he could face the death penalty. No trial date has been set.
