“How long?” asks Coldplay’s new single Speed of Sound.

Sales from their newly released album “X&Y” prove the wait is a short one for the British heartthrobs.

Topping rock sensation the Foo Fighters’ newly released “In our Honor” and the Backstreet Boys’ “Never Gone,” “X&Y” sold 323,000 copies in its second week.

A wave of boy band mania has transpired across the globe with the return of some bands, like the Backstreet Boys.

Grown women and adolescent girls everywhere can rejoice.
According to E-online, Coldplay is also at the number one spot in 22 other countries. In their native UK, they sold 464,000 copies in the first week, making it the fastest selling album in that country.

This pattern is pretty consistent with “Parachutes” (released in 2000) and “A Rush of Blood to the Head” in 2002, also topping at the number 1-2 spot.

There is something timeless about them; perhaps it’s the poetics of lead singer Chris Martin or the way the acoustics are organized. Whatever it is, they sound hot.
