Revolver Film Company hosted their annual Much Music Video Awards after-party in Toronto on Sunday. I was there, along with an agency, handling their public relations. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my duties would also include schmoozing with celebrities.

The after-party, which was held at the Courthouse on Court Street, started picking up steam around 11 p.m. when stars like Shawn Desman, Kalan Porter and Keshia Chante began arriving.

Shawn Desman was one of the first celebrities to show up, and did so wearing a bright yellow jacket he must have borrowed from April O’Neal, complete with a matching highlighter yellow belt.

Next to arrive was Canadian Idol Kalan Porter, who made all his fellow hobbits from Lord of the Rings proud. His attire was normal enough (relatively speaking)- ripped jeans and a green blazer, that was better suited for a recreational bowlers league. However, it was his wild mop of hair that got my attention.

Following Porter’s arrival, Keshia Chante, who was earlier nominated for Favorite Canadian Artist and Best Pop Video, arrived on the red carpet in style. She was dressed in a brown v-neck, midriff exposing shirt and a white skirt. Needless to say, she had more than a few heads turning. Chante was a class act, inside and out, with many people blown away by her down-to-earth demeanor and sweet personality.

Other local Canadian celebrities, such as Sloan, Sum 41, Canadian Idol’s Farley Flex and Robin Black (who was loving the camera), began packing into the Courthouse as the party heated up.

Jamie Kennedy later showed up, eyes glazed over, and was almost immediately bombarded by women screaming, “Oh my god, you’re Jamie Kennedy.” To which he replied, “Well hello, gorgeous.”

Many people seemed to take notice of the all the attractive attendees. Partygoer Dave Heeney noted, “I have never seen so many beautiful people in one place in my life.”

“Some were like porno car wrecks though,” joked Heeney. “You didn’t want to look, but you just couldn’t help yourself.”

The party, which continued until 4 a.m., seemed to go off without a hitch and was thoroughly enjoyed by most partygoers. Revolver showed again, no one can party quite like the Canadian music industry.
