Cruise Won’t Press Charges Against Water Gun Assailants

Tom Cruise won’t press charges against the bogus reporter who shot water into his face at the London premiere of War of the Worlds.
Four men were arrested after squirting water at Cruise from a fake microphone as he was giving interviews along the red carpet.
Initially, Cruise appeared to laugh but then asked the prankster: “Why would you do that?”
The man mumbled an excuse, but Cruise persisted: “Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?” The man then tried to walk away but Cruise reached across the barrier, grabbed his arm and said: “Don’t run away. That’s incredibly rude. I’m here giving you an interview and you do that … it’s incredibly rude … You’re a jerk.”
The mock reporter and his three-man camera crew were filming a sketch for Britain’s Channel 4 comedy programme. A Channel 4 spokesman said the incident was not intended to cause offence and was “very much in a spirit of fun.”
The four men involved in the stunt, ages 28 to 47, were taken into custody before being released on bail and ordered to return on July 4.
Cruise’s spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight that he would not press charges.
Last night Cruise was back on the red carpet, with fiancee Katie Holmes in tow, to promote Steven Speilberg’s War of the Worlds. He wouldn’t talk about the water gun incident, opting to focus attention on the movie.
Meanwhile, Sharon Osbourne is promising to help Cruise prosecute the men who sprayed him with water.
Ozzy’s wife was in a similar prank three weeks ago. The crew from Channel 4 sprayed her with water outside a restaurant in London.
Sharon has now offered Cuise’s lawyers the paperwork from her incident.
