Tom Cruise Shot With Water Gun!
42-year-old actor Tom Cruise was sprayed in the face with a water gun disguised as a microphone by a comedian posing as a reporter when the recently engaged actor was doing press interviews for his new movie, War of the Worlds, outside a movie theatre in central London’s Leicester Square yesterday.
Four men were released on bail but they’re to return to the station today where they might be charged with assault.
While wiping his face with a blue towel, Cruise turned sour and began to say, “Why would you do that?”
In response, the faux journalist stood there mumbling while Cruise continued to say, “Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?”
Without a rebuttal, the man began to walk away but Cruise reached across the metal barrier to grab his arm and say, “Don’t run away. That’s incredibly rude. I’m here giving you an interview and answering your questions, you do something really nasty. You’re a jerk.”
The man and his three-person camera crew were taken into the theatre by security guards and arrested.
They were filming the incident for a new comedy show for British TV station Channel 4 in which celebrities are targets of practical jokes. Sounds like for the first time, the Brits are out of ideas for original programming.
Afterwards Cruise wiped his face for a final time and continued to give interviews with a bright, shiny smile.
Katie Holmes, who got engaged to Cruise last week, was at the premiere but was not with him during the incident.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, War of the Worlds is in theatres June 29.
