Live 8 to be Held in Barrie, Ontario
Will the Canadian Live 8 concert be held in Toronto or an hour north in Barrie? That was the question being asked Friday. First it appeared that it would be held in Toronto. Then news travelled around that Barrie was the new location. Then, Downsview Park cleared its schedule and suddenly people were convinced it would be held in Toronto, again.
Well, those who already bought their bus tickets to Barrie, have no fear. andPOP has confirmed with two sources that the Live 8 concert will be held in Barrie, Ontario, at the location formerly known as Molson Park (home to the annual Warped Tour visit).
andPOP can also confirm that both Our Lady Peace and Billy Talent will perform.
The mystery is who will join them.
Rolling Stones manager Michael Cohl is organizing the concert, but the Stones have said they won’t be making an appearance. 50 Cent pulled out of the Philadelphia Live 8 show because he’s filming a movie in Toronto, however he has also ruled out making an appearance.
All the details are still coming together, but will be made official at a press conference in Toronto on Tuesday.
Bob Geldof is the man responsible for making Live 8 happen. He was also the one who brought together the top artists in the world 20 years ago for Live Aid.
He is hosting Live 8 to raise awareness for poverty in Africa.
U2, Paul McCartney, Madonna and more of the world’s top acts will come together July 2 for several concerts being held around the world.
