Bob Costas will serve as a substitute host of Larry King Live, CNN announced Wednesday.

“Bob’s broad range of interests, his quick wit and his deft interview skills will engage viewers in the best King tradition,” said Jon Klein, president of CNN-U.S. “We are delighted that he will be filling in for Larry from time to time.”

King’s other subs include American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

Costas, the former face of NBC Sports, is also host of “Costas Now” and “Inside the NFL” on HBO.
