Eighteen-year-old singer-actress Lindsay Lohan plans to file a lawsuit against Galo Ramirez, a photographer who’s mini van reportedly crashed into her Mercedes on Tuesday.

After alerting the authorities of the pursuit, Lohan was making a U-Turn to get the attention of a police cruiser, when Ramirez, 24, rammed into her. Some claim it was done on purpose.

Lohan was not badly hurt, however, she did suffer minor cuts and bruises, which she told authorities that she would get treatment for on her own time.

Ramirez was placed under arrest for felony assault with a deadly weapon, and is currently free on $35,000 bail.

“I thank God my daughter was able to walk out of the car,” Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mother, said in a statement.

Jay Lavely of Lavely and Singer, whom according to Celebrity Justice is a top Los Angeles based firm that handles many celebrity lawsuits, was hired by Lohan to represent her in this case.

It is said that Lohan’s choice to file the suit is more about making a point than adding to her already deep pockets.

“A lawsuit would send a very, very strong signal to the paparazzi community that this stuff is very dangerous,” said Hollywood publicist Michael Levine, not the Michael Levine who runs andPOP.

Look for Lohan on the big screen with her new movie “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” hitting theatres June 22.
