As Akon would say, Oliver Stone was locked up. Stone, the Oscar-winning director, was arrested Friday night in Beverly Hills, California, on alcohol and drug charges, according to police.

Stone spent Friday night in jail and was released on a $15,000 bond Saturday.

Sgt. John Edmundson of the Beverly Hills police said Stone was pulled over when he showed signs of intoxication along a street where police had set up a checkpoint.

Police said they found an illegal drug while searching his car, a 1994 Mercedes-Benz.

He left jail at about 6:30 a.m., about 7 hours after entering, and refused to comment.

The “Platoon” director and “Midnight Express” screenwriter has had trouble with the law before.

Stone, 58, entered a rehabilitation program in 1999 as a plea bargain for similar drug and alcohol charges.

Stone’s troubles are not over.

Police may still charge him with another DUI charge.
