Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue, who was diagnosed with breast cancer this week, underwent what doctors are calling “successful” surgery.

Her surgeons say she is in high spirits in a Melbourne hospital.

“I am very pleased to be able to confirm that the operation was successful,” said Dr. Jenny Senior.

Minogue underwent the surgery on Friday, and doctors commented Saturday.

“I feel confident that we caught the cancer in time and she is now on the road to a complete recovery,” added Senior. “Her spirits are high and she’s feeling fine.

“Kylie has asked me to pass on her thanks once again to all who have expressed their love and concern for her.”
