Perhaps the best show on television, and undoubtedly the best show nobody seems to watch, Arrested Development, will return for a third season in the fall, Fox announced this week.

The show was on the bubble: critics loved it but it has yet to find a large audience.

Even winning the Emmy for Best Comedy Show didn’t garner great ratings, though that may be the driving force behind Fox’s decision to bring it back again.

Consider this: even Complete Savages and Committed did better in the ratings, and both shows were cancelled.

Arrested Development was show number 122 on the ratings list, with 5.9 million viewers an episode.

“The decision to order another season becomes easy when you consider its amazing cast, creative brilliance, critical acclaim and advertiser appeal,” said Peter Liguori, the Fox president.

Bringing back the show was a surprise for another reason: Liguori became Fox president this year and bringing back a ratings failure is one of his first moves.

Fox will move the show to Monday nights, a night that traditionally has received more viewers.
