Fans who could not wait just one more week to see the final Star Wars movie paid up to $500 to get an early look.

Screenings were set up in 10 cities, and Star Wars fanatics came dressed as their favourite characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vadar.

“Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith” opens midnight on May 19 and it’s a safe bet that it will debut in first in the week’s box office race.

George Lucas, the film’s mastermind and director, attended a screening in San Francisco, while stars of the film, past and present, like Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson, showed up in New York. Carrie Fisher, “Princess Leia,” attended in Washington.

Mark Hamill, Jimmy Smits, and John Ratzenberger appeared in Los Angeles.

Some VIP tickets, which included post-movie parties, went for $2500 a piece.
