Microsoft Unveils XBox 360
Hoping to unseat the next version of Sony’s Playstation game console, Microsoft unveiled details for its next generation XBox console, called XBox 360.
XBox 360 will feature three PowerPC 3.2ghz cores, a DVD player, two USB 2.0 ports, an infrared port and support for up to four wireless controllers.
Microsoft unveiled the new machine during a 30 minute tv show on MTV.
The new machine’s aim is to become the basis for your digital home entertainment centre allowing users to control their entire media centre as well as access email, photos, music and the Internet.
Microsoft plans to release XBox 360 just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Sony is expected to announce details of the Playstation 3 console at E3, an annual gaming show that takes place in Lost Angelas. However, Sony’s console won’t be available until sometime in 2006.
