Real is going after Apple’s iTunes again.

Real today announced that users who do not subscribe to its Rhapsody music service can listen to 25 songs each month for free, hoping to lure users away from Apple’s iTunes Music Store using a free trial campaign. Moreover, Real is looking to turn illegal music pirates into legal music users.

“Today, the number of people who use legal services like Rhapsody is in the millions, and the number of people who use pirate services is in the tens of millions,” said Rob Glaser, Real’s chief executive. “What we give people is the instant gratification of the illegal services, on a legal path.”

Rhapsody uses both a subscription method to sell music online and a pay per song model. Monthly subscriptions are available for US$9.99 month or US$0.99 per song.
