On Tuesday, Amazon.com accidently posted Apple’s new products to its web site for pre-sale a day early, confirming earlier rumours that Apple’s PowerMac G5 line was going to see a hardware update.

Today, Apple officially announced new PowerMac G5’s in configurations of dual 2.0ghz, dual 2.3ghz and dual 2.7ghz. The new models retail for CAD$2,499 (US$1,999), CAD$3,149 (US$2,499) and CAD$3,799 (US$2,999) respectively. In addition, the machines now include 512MB of RAM, increased hard drive space and dual layer superdrive support.

The new machines also feature the ATI Radeon 9600/9650 video card for dual monitor support, a 16x DVD writer and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Apple’s single processor G5 remains available for users looking for a low cost option.
