Michael Jackson Trial: Accuser’s Mom vs Lawyers
The Michael Jackson child molestation trial in Santa Maria, California, got heated this week as the mother of the accuser took the stand.
A quote from Judge Rodney Melville sums up what went on: “Do you want me to shut this trial down this afternoon? Let’s start taking this seriously.”
Thomas Mesereau, Jackson’s lead attorney, tried to portray the woman as a liar, and was able to get her to admit to once lying under oath, though in a different case.
Her family once received a $150,000 settlement from JC Penny after they alleged they were abused by security guards in the department store.
She said during that trial that her husband never beat her, though later admitted he did. It was crucial to the case because her injuries were being analyzed and could have come from her husband.
Relating to the Jackson trial, the mother said that she was “acting” on a tape where it shows her saying Jackson is a good man. She says she was provided a script from a Neverland employee.
The mother testified that she has no plans to sue Jackson. His lawyers are trying to prove she is doing this for money.
At one point, not relating to the question asked by Jackson’s lawyer, the mother said, “Now I know that Neverland is all about booze, pornography and sex with boys.” That comment was stricken from the record.
Jackson faces 10 charges and has pleaded not guilty to all 10.
