Rich Cronin, former member of the boyband trio LFO, is in hospital battling leukemia, MTV reports.

He was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia on March 28.

He is in a Boston hospital, where he received his first round of chemotherapy treatment last week. He has yet to find out if he will make it into remission, MTV reports.

“I’m praying every second that this will come out of me,” he told the network. “In two weeks, this has completely changed my life and my perspective on it. The first thing you want to do once you hear the news is run, but you can’t, because it’s inside of you. You have no choice but to face it.

“I’m scared to death at this point. It is a nightmare of a situation to be in, but I really want to make something positive out of this.”

LFO is best known for their ’90s hit “Summer Girls.” LFO split in 2001. Cronin has been working on a solo project and producing material for other singers.

In May, Cronin was scheduled to hit the road with other fellow former boyband singers such as Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block and Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees.
