Game junkies eager to catch an early glimpse of the new Xbox 2 system will have to tune in to MTV.

Microsoft has partnered with the music station to launch the Xbox 2 console. Elijah Woods of Lord of the Rings fame will unveil the product during ?”MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox Revealed,? airing May 12 in North America. MTV stations across the world will air the program within a day.

“Just as MTV revolutionized the way the world experiences music, the next-generation video game console from Xbox will spark a revolution in how consumers experience games and other forms of digital entertainment,” Peter Moore, corporate vp worldwide marketing for Microsoft and publishing for Xbox, said in a statement.

The show will reveal the making of the new Xbox, game previews, and other information.

Xbox 2 is not the official name of the console. The name has not yet been revealed, though speculation is that it will be named Xbox 360. No release date has been announced either.
