That?s right! ?80?s cartoon and toy phenomenon The Transformers is finally being adapted into a film, according to Variety. Michael Bay (Pearl Harbor) is being courted to sit in the director?s chair for the feature and along for ride is none other than Steven Spielberg, who will sign on as executive producer.

Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures are looking to schedule the release date for some time around Thanksgiving 2006.

Spielberg currently worked with Bay on the upcoming film ?The Island? and reunited with writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci to develop the script.
