Almost exactly a year after she entered a drug rehabilitation centre, Whitney Houston is back to receive the same treatment.

Nancy Seltzer, a spokesperson for the singer, told Access Hollywood that Houston has “has re-entered a facility for rehabilitation.”

Houston checked into a rehab centre for substance abuse in March of 2004, and left just five days later.

Houston may have checked into the centre earlier this month, though no dates has been confirmed.

It appeared her life was on the right track, as she signed a new record deal and was working on a new album with Clive Davis.

Last month, Houston was rushed to hospital after she became ill on a Paris flight due to an apparent food poisoning. In January, police cited her for rear-ending a bus in Atlanta. Both cases may not be related to getting treated.

In 2002, Houston told Diane Sawyer that she has used alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine during her 20-year career.
