Apple Patches iTunes DRM Hole
Earlier this week, a group of programmers released software that would bypass iTune’s copy protection, allowing users to share your purchased music with anyone.
The software, called PyMusique, was created by three developers including Norwegian programmer Jon Johansen, who also created DeCSS, software that bypassed DVD encryption.
“The security hole in the iTunes Music Store which was recently exploited has been closed, and as a consequence the iTunes Music Store will now sell music only to customers using iTunes version 4.7,” the company said in a statement to ZDNet.
If you’re no longer able to purchase music from the iTunes store, visit Apple’s site to download the latest version.
