The actress who played Teri Polo?s sister in 2000?s comedy smash hit ?Meet the Parents? died last month after several misdiagnoses.

Nicole DeHuff, who was best known in her role as getting hit in the face with a volleyball in the film, was pronounced dead from complications involving pneumonia. She was 31.

After checking into three Los Angeles hospitals, it was only when her problems became inoperable that doctors realized what was wrong with her.

The actress’ mother, Patsie, said, “By the time she reached the third hospital, it was too late. She was unconscious.”

The grieving mother revealed that her daughter was rushed to hospital on February 12 but was sent home by medics and told to take Tylenol.

DeHuff?s mother recalls, “The next day my daughter was worse.”

Again, the actress went to hospital, but this time medics prescribed antibiotics for bronchitis.

Two days later, paramedics rushed to her home after she collapsed, gasping for breath. The actress died on 16 February.
