Cellphone Virus Spreads Via Multimedia Messages
It should come as no surprise now that hackers are targeting cellphone users with a new virus that is capable of spreading via multimedia messages.
The Commwarrior.A virus, reported by F-Secure Corp, a software security firm based in Finland, says the virus automatically sends itself to other users through regular text messages, multimedia messages or via bluetooth. It urges users to download the attachment using such subjects as 3DGame and Happy Birthday!.
While the user may not download the attached file, they may notice their monthly bill increasing as most cellphone operators charge a fee for each message sent.
As of now, the virus only affects phones running on the Symbian Series 60 operating system, regularly bundled on the more sophisticated Nokia phones.
