National Virus Alert System Launched in UK
The UK government has launched a new program that will help users stay away from viruses and other online attacks. The new service is called ITsafe, and works by sending an email or text message to the recipient when a new attack or virus is discovered.
The message will include information on what the attack is and how the users can protect themselves. However, the service still maintains that users should keep firewalls and anti-virus software running at all times.
The National Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre (NISCC) will monitor for potential threats as they are issued around the globe. They estimate that about six to ten alerts will be sent yearly.
