Paris Hilton Now Available in Worm Form
We’re not talking about those slimy little creatures that creep up after a rainy day. We’re talking about a type of virus that is now making its way through email promising explicit pictures of our famous “whatever you want to call her” friend, Paris Hilton.
As if Paris hasn’t been through enough over the last few years, Sophos is reporting a new variant of the email worm called Sober-K is sending itself around to millions of email addresses using such subjects as “Paris Hilton, pure!” and “Paris Hilton SexVideos.” The emails arrive in either English or German, depending on whether the virus believes the address is used by an English or German user.
In addition, the Ahker-C worm is also sending itself to users via email with the subject line “Paris Hilton…download it!” and an included file called “ParisXXX.zip.” This worm will try to disable anti-virus and firewall software on the current computer and block access to various web sites.
“It’s an old trick but sadly it still often works – disguise your worm as hardcore porn and there are likely to be some computer users who will throw common sense out of the window and launch the dangerous file,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. “Those looking for the simple life, without the trouble of viruses and worms, would be wise to be wary of unsolicited email attachments.”
Earlier this week Ms. Hilton had her Sidekick hacked and her personal information display all over the Internet, revealing several hundred celebrity phones numbers and some rather revealing photographs.
