When releasing new music today, half the battle is online promotion. However, contests, signed merch and giveaways aren’t always the best solutions. When working on their latest album, Hedley came up with a brilliant idea, they decided to make trailers.
It’s hard to prepare for an interview with Hedley. So in this interview, we threw caution to the wind, got a 24 of beer and broadcast the interview live on our USTREAM (andPOP.tv). Eventually Jacob, Dave and @jordans_life ended up talking about hairy legs, their newest music video and more.

Movies about the fascination of marijuana pop up every year, but not since the golden days of Cheech and Chong has a film been both funny and thoughtful. Film makers take advantage of their audience because they assume they will be stoned while watching it, and thus assume again that anything they put on the screen will be funny. Not so.
Cheech and Chong made sure the jokes were just as funny to the pot smokers as they were to the non-pot smokers. The same craft went into the creation of Half Baked, released on DVD this month.
The movie is about a group of friends who has to raise money to bail a friend (Harland Williams) out of jail. To do so, they sell the marijuana that Chappelle gets for free from the hospital. Trouble ensues or course, because what group of pot-smoking friends wouldn’t want to smoke free pot? Sure, the profits decrease, but it’s free. It would be difficult to convince them not to smoke it.
The movie was also the first time Dave Chapelle was able to breakout of a C-level status. He showed much promise, and while it took another few years to gain the prominence that he has acquired today, watching Half Baked shows that he was the exact same actor back then (in 1998).
There’s also one of the most memorable cameos of the past decade, as Bob Saget shows up at a substance-abuse addiction meeting. You will never look at Danny Tanner in the same way, and if you haven’t seen the movie, make sure you do at least to be able to see this one scene.
The extra features on this DVD release are far from brilliant. There’s five minutes with the guy on the couch (I wanted to turn it off after one-minute, but I assumed something would eventually happen; nope); cartoons of different types of smokers (after the first few, I thought something funny would happen; nope), and “Granny’s Guide to Baking” (very long, not funny).
An alternate ending isn?t so different, and the deleted scenes aren’t that interesting.
Luckily, the film itself is worth the money.
