Britney Spears Sues Insurance Companies for $10 Mill
Eight insurance firms rejected a claim by Britney Spears last year when she cancelled her Onyx Hotel tour, and now she is suing for nearly $10 million.
Spears injured her knee while shooting the music video for “Outrageous” with Snoop Dogg, forcing the pop princess to cancel her 82-day tour.
She underwent arthroscopic surgery, but the insurance companies said they would not pay because she had a pre-existing condition. Her claim was for $9.8 million.
Insurance companies accused her of leaving out her knee surgery in 1999 on the insurance forms. In a lawsuit filed last week in New York, Spears claimed the “innocent omission” did not lead to the 2004 injury and surgery. She said the new injury was on another side of her knee.
Spears paid $1.3 million in insurance premiums and claims she injured herself while the policies were in effect.
