Jackson Appears in Court
Michael Jackson was in court Monday for the start of his trial. Jury selection has begun, and over 750 potential jurors are expected to be interviewed this week.
Jackson dressed in a white suit, with a yellow cloth draped around his arm.
He stood and smiled, reports the AP, as the first batch of jurors were seen.
Outside the court, a few hundred fans greeted Jackson with cheers. There was far less people outside than there was when Jackson appeared for his arraignment a year ago. Then, Jackson jumped on top of his SUV to wave and dance. This time, he got out of his car and gave the peace sign.
Jackson pleaded not guilty to all 10 counts he is faced with.
300 people were seen on Monday; 138 asked to be excused; only one ? a woman eight months pregnant ? was excused.
Judge Rodney Melville warned prospective jury members that they would be needed for about six months. Jury selection is expected to take a month.
