Apple today unveiled its newest iPod player, the iPod Shuffle. iPod Shuffle uses flash memory and is available in 512MB and 1GB sizes. The iPod Shuffle sells for $99USD ($129CAD) and $149USD (Approx. $189CAD) respectively and will be available starting January 22nd.

“iPod shuffle is smaller and lighter than a pack of gum and costs less than $100,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With most flash-memory music players users must use tiny displays and complicated controls to find their music; with iPod shuffle you just relax and it serves up new combinations of your music every time you listen.”

The iPod Shuffle continues to work alongside iTunes and either a Mac or PC computer. In addition, the iPod Shuffle can also be used as a USB flash drive, similarily to the way the iPod doubles as a regular hard drive.

The iPod Shuffle ships with a lanyard and headphones. Its battery can last up to 12 hours. Other accessories available for the iPod Shuffle include an armband, sport case, dock, and a USB power adapter. Expect more accessories to be announced in the near future.
