Michael Moore Film Wins Top People’s Choice Award
Michael Moore got his wish. The Fahrenheit 9/11 Director saw his film win the Favourite Movie award at the People’s Choice Awards Sunday night.
Moore had been lobbying for people to vote for his film for the past few months.
Unlike at the Oscars two years ago when he won the top documentary award for Bowling for Columbine and took the opportunity to bash George W. Bush, Moore was not booed but rather cheered by the audience.
Moore’s film took aim at Bush and his connection to the Bin Laden family, and Moore promised to keep up his work.
“I love making movies and I’ll take this as an invitation to make more Fahrenheit 9/11s,” he said in his acceptance speech. He dedicated the award to the troops overseas, though didn’t use his “fake war” speech.
Favourite Drama was awarded to Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ.
Shrek 2 won for Favourite Comedy, Favourite Sequel, Favourite Animated Movie, Favourite Animated Movie Star (Eddie Murphy’s Donkey) and Favourite Movie Villain (Jennifer Saunders’ Fairy Godmother).
Despite lower ratings than Jay Leno, David Letterman was named Favourite Late Night Host.
The music categories were won by chart toppers: U2 (Favourite Group), Alicia Keys (Favourite Female) and Usher (Favourite Male).
