Following something that happened at the Super Bowl at the beginning of this year, Janet Jackson was embarrassed but hoped it would translate into high record sales for her album.

When “Damita Jo” was released a few weeks later, she didn’t even debut at number one.

While record sales were decent, they were not what she expected.

Now she’s preparing a new album, with boyfriend and producer Jermaine Dupri.

Dupri will be the executive producer of the album, he told MTV.

“I see a void in music,” he said. “Any time I make records, I try to fill the void with what’s missing. I think everything [Janet] brought to the table in the beginning of her career and throughout her career is missing. The kids don’t have nobody to follow, they’re lost.”

The sound will be more like her old albums.

“For this record, it’s gonna be all dance, though. It’s gonna be straight ‘Control,’ ‘Nasty,’ hard-ass beats, memorable melodies.”

The album is expected to be released in 2005, and Dupri hopes producers like Dr. Dre will lend a hand in the studio.
