Regis and Ashlee to Co-Host New Year’s Show, Dick Clark Recovering
Dick Clark will miss his “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2005″ even this year, but another seemingly ageless television personality will fill in.
Regis Philbin will host the New Year’s countdown in the absence of Clark, who suffered a mild stroke last week.
A spokesperson for Clark said the former host of American Bandstand is getting better everyday.
“I’m so glad that Regis hadn’t yet made any New Year’s plans,” Clark said in a statement. “It’ll feel strange watching it on TV, but my doctors felt it was too soon.” This will the first time in 33 years that Clark missed a New Year’s event.
Ashlee Simpson will co-host with Philbin, though will be situated somewhere on the west coast.
Performers include Big & Rich, Ciara, Earth, Wind & Fire, Good Charlotte and Billy Idol.
The show airs Dec. 31 on ABC.
