James Brown Has Cancer
The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, has prostate cancer, his publicist said on Friday.
Brown, 71, will undergo surgery next week in Georgia.
Brown is expected to recuperate in three weeks.
“I have overcome a lot of things in my life. I will overcome this as well,” he said in a statement.
Brown just finished a two-week tour of Canadian cities and has plans to release a book, “I Feel Good: A Memoir of a Life of Soul,” in January. He plans on promoting the book with several promotional appearances.
He has released over 50 albums in his almost 50 year career.
His most recent work could appeal to the young and old. He collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas on a single off their upcoming album. The song is scheduled to hit radio stations in February.
