12 Stones’ sophomore release, “Potter’s Field,” came out on the heels of Paul McCoy?s (vocals) strong duet on Evanescence’s monster hit ?Bring Me To Life.” Like Evanescence, 12 Stones features huge metal riffs and honest yearning lyrics (?The Last Song,” ?Stay?). What?s disappointing about 12 Stones is that they have absolutely no character or uniqueness to their sound, and they create weak radio rock with the same old predictable formula (metal riff opening; introspective verse; haunting chorus; repeat).

Potter?s Field?s polished production can be blamed on producer/mixer Dave Fortman (Evanescence), who Pro-Tooled out any rough edges for a more marketable package. In the end, fans of Three Doors Down, Creed or Drowning Pool will enjoy this record; otherwise stay clear.
