Yamagata’s LP Happened for a Reason
Touring non-stop is nothing new to Rachael Yamagata.
The 26-year-old, who released her debut album in June, was an integral part of the Chicago funk band Bumpus. But after six years, Yamagata was ready to try things on her own.
And it’s a good thing Yamagata left. The album, “Happenstance,” has achieved critical rave, with Yamagata being compared to the likes of Norah Jones and Carole King.
Yamagata spoke with andPOP on a recent trip to Toronto. Watch the interview to hear her thoughts on philosophy, tarot cards, making her album, leaving Bumpus, and much more.
