Actress Janet Leigh Dies
Janet Leigh, the actress most famous for her shower scream scene in Psycho, died Sunday night at the age of 77.
For the past year, she suffered from vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels.
She died at her home in Beverly Hills, surrounded by her daughters, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kelly Curtis, and husband Robert Brandt.
“She died peacefully,” a spokesperson said.
Although her role in Psycho was the role most people will associate her with, Leigh was featured in over 60 movies and television shows. She starred opposite Frank Sinatra in the original Manchurian Candidate, was the bride of Charlton Heston in Touch of Evil, and made a star out of Dick Van Dyke in Bye Bye Birdie. Her Psycho role earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
One of her last roles was in 1998’s Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later, with her daughter, Jamie Lee.
