Nelly Tops the Charts with 2 Best Selling Albums
Was releasing two albums in one week a good move by Nelly? Most certainly, according to first week sales figures released today.
The rapper entered the charts at number 1 (with “Suit”) and 2 (with “Sweet”).
His previous album, Nellyville, entered at number 1 with 714,000 copies sold in 2002, more than 20,000 fewer copies than his two current albums combined.
Guns N’ Roses is the only other act who entered the Billboard chart at the top two positions, when they released “Use Your Illusion” I and II in 1991.
Alan Jackson’s latest, “What I Do,” sank to number 7, selling 72,000 copies.
Of note, Bowling for Soup sold 22,000 copies of their latest, “A Hangover You Don’t Deserve,” enough for 37th place.
