Movie: Do not expect to see the typical sappy predictable teen movie when you watch The Girl Next Door. The story is sophisticated, well thought out, yet still funny and relatable. Danielle, played by Elisha Cuthbert (Fox’s 24), moves in next door to the socially undeveloped Matthew (Emile Hirsch). He falls in love with her, but soon finds out she used to be a porn actress who is considering going back to her old ways. There’s an adventure to a Las Vegas porn convention, a physical battle with a pimp-like director, and many scenes showcasing the sultry Cuthbert.
4*

Special Features: The DVD promises an “unrated” version, but there’s no much extra of Cuthbert. There is several more minutes of nudity in the pornography and stripper scenes. There’s an original ending, deleted scenes, extended scenes, lengthy documentaries, and commentary.
5*

Other Notes: There are so many extra features that the DVD is 2-sided. The movie is Cuthbert’s breakout role and is clearly just the beginning of her career. There’s not much more you can want in this packed DVD.

Total score: 4.5*
