Twista Survives Car Crash, Bodyguard Killed

Twista, the chart topping rapper from Chicago, was hurt in an automobile accident Monday morning in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Chicago native Arthur Dixon, Twista’s longtime bodyguard and close friend, was killed in the crash. Five other men were in the car, but were not injured seriously.
“It’s a miracle that any of them survived because all of them, except for the driver, were ejected onto the medial strip,” said county District Attorney Brad Foulk.
The van carrying Twista rolled over at about 4 a.m. in a construction zone. It was headed from Syracuse to Chicago. A concert for Monday night with LL Cool J was cancelled, because LL wanted to be with his wife who was having surgery.
Twista, whose real name is Carl Mitchell, was released from St. Vincent’s Health Center after being treated for minor injuries.
Police suspect the driver, the only one wearing a seatbelt, fell asleep at the wheel, MTV reports.
Twista is best known for his fast rhymes, which earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of Records for fastest rapper. His latest album, Kamikaze, which includes his hit “Slow Jamz,” debuted in first on Billboard earlier this year.
