Ken Jennings Continues Jeopardy Streak
The Ken Jennings craze is back. Jeopardy?s biggest winner is back, as the trivia show returned Monday after a month long summer hiatus.
To nobody?s surprise, Jennings continued his winning streak (an impressive 39 wins in a row), but won just $10,001 after he wagered almost $22,000 on the final question and answered wrong.
He has won $1,331,661 so far and there is no end in sight.
Jeopardy ratings have skyrockets to 15 million, over 5 million more than usual.
Jennings, the Salt Lake City software engineer, said he built up his knowledge because he is curious about many things.
“When I meet someone with an unusual job or hobby, I’m always picking their brains for cool things I don’t know about their areas of expertise,” he wrote on the Jeopardy message board. “I also watch a lot of movies. It’s amazing what you can learn from movies.”
Jennings would not have won this much if he had competed last year. Producers of the show, hosted by Canadian Alex Trebek, changed the rules so there is no limit as to how many games someone can win in a row. In the past, the limit was five days.
